New Leader Announced At Newton Nonprofit

The organization helps the local senior population with their everyday lives.

NEWTON, MA — A local nonprofit has appointed its newest leader.

Alexandra Johnson was announced at the newest Executive Director of Newton at Home this week by the organization’s Board President Jennifer Sax.

Newton at Home helps the city’s elderly community stay connected with their community by providing them essential services. Volunteers provide transportation for those who need it. Also, Newton at Home members organize social events, outings, and dinners for seniors. The nonprofit has reportedly fulfilled 35,000 service requests since it launched more than 10 years ago.

Johnson’s previous work experience includes handling human rights issues at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and as an analyst and supervisor for a social science lab at Brandeis University. The Newton resident also earned her college degree at Brandeis.

“Alex Johnson has combined strategic innovation with caring attention to the needs of every member, volunteer and supporter of Newton at Home,” Sax said. “We are fortunate that she has accepted the offer to take on the Executive Director role at a time when the need for Newton at Home’s services is growing rapidly.”
