Newton Breaks Ground On Park Project
The project features a complete overhaul of athletic fields

NEWTON, MA — The city recently broke ground on the $9.5 million renovation project at Albemarle Park.
Albemarle Park is located on the road of the same name, off Watertown Street in Newtonville. The multi-phase project includes plans to develop a brand new synthetic turf field, a new turf baseball field, a new basketball court, and six new pickleball courts.
Another phase of the construction features the creation of new trails and pathways, lighting, and an irrigation system. According to Mayor Ruthanne Fuller, the two new fields along with accompanying lighting for them will be completed and ready to use by the fall. The previous fields were made of grass.
