Newton And Brookline Food Pantries Receive Funding
The Newport Restaurant Group fundraises for local food pantries annually.
NEWTON, MA — The Centre Street Pantry and Brookline Food Pantry are two recipients of funds from the Newport Restaurant Group, a collection of venues in Massachusetts and Rhode Island that work together.
The funds, totaling $71,142, were distributed to a total of seven nonprofits throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The donations are part of the NRG’s yearly gift card program, in which $2 of every gift card sold goes toward the fund. Since the program began in 2019, the group has raised more than $285,000.
Rose Saia is the Executive Director of the Centre Street Food Pantry on Homer Street in Newton. The Brookline Food Pantry has multiple locations throughout town and is run by Elizabeth Bowen.
“Supporting their work is an honor, and certainly an annual highlight for all of us,” NRG President and CEO Mick Lamond said.
