Newton College Launching Minority Career Advancement Program
William James College received a grant to fund opportunities for men of color to work in the mental health field.

NEWTON, MA — William James College announced the launch of its Men of Color Career Advancement Program, which aims to expand the amount of professionals of color who work in the fields of mental health and substance use.
The program is primarily funded through a $50,000 Special Incentives grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation.
“Across the board, ethnic, linguistic and racial minority groups do not have adequate access to culturally informed behavioral health services and often face significant barriers when seeking essential care,” William James Vice President for Workforce Initiatives and Specialty Training Dr. Gemima St. Louis said.
