Newton's 2013 Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Dates

Household hazardous waste materials can be dropped off at the Resource Recovery Center on Rumford Avenue.

As you start your spring cleaning in the next couple of weeks, mark your calendars for the household hazardous waste drop-off dates at the Newton Resource Recovery Center on Rumford Avenue. 

The household hazardous waste drop-offs are open to Newton residents who need to dispose of items such as antifreeze or used motor oil, fuels/gasoline, pool chemicals, pesticides, adhesives, cleaners and sealants. 

The 2013 household hazardous waste collections will be held from 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Wednesdays: May 15 - June 26
  • Wednesday, July 17
  • Wednesday, August 14
  • Wednesdays: Sept. 4 - Oct. 16
  • Saturdays: May 11, June 22, Sept. 21 and Oct. 19

All drop-off times are dependent on the weather. Residents should call Public Works customer service during rain and extreme heat to check and see if collections will take place that day.

Residents are limited to one car or trunk load and proof of Newton residency must be provided. 

Commercial vehicles will not be allowed access into the hazardous waste drop-off.

Correction: The first set of Wednesday drop-off dates will run from May 15-June 26.
