Newton Man Charged With Inappropriate Behavior Toward Minor On Flight
The resident is being accused of physically harassing a teenage girl while flying to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
NEWTON, MA — A resident was arrested for inappropriate sexual contact with a minor while onboard a flight from Boston to Puerto Rico this past summer, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.
46-year-old Jonathan Alan Lefman is being accused of touching the buttocks of a 17-year-old female sitting directly in front of him on the JetBlue flight on Aug. 30. The victim captured photos of Lefman's hand as he put it though the opening of the seat in an attempt to touch her. The young woman’s family member reportedly told a plane supervisor about the behavior and confronted Lefman herself.
Lefman was officially charged with one count of abusive sexual contact while in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States. The charge provides for a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, followed by one year of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
