Newton PD Receives Grant For Traffic Safety
The department plans to use the funds for a variety of initiatives.

NEWTON, MA — The Police Department was awarded a grant of $53,015 in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration funds. to support the 2025 Municipal Road Safety Program.
The MRS Program allocates funds to communities throughout the state to be used to improve traffic safety. The program is operated by the Office of Grants and Research.
As part of MRS, the department will lead 6 upcoming traffic enforcement campaigns as well as 3 bicycle and pedestrian safety enforcement campaigns.
“Our first mobilization is for the Winter Impaired Driving Campaign. During the upcoming holiday season, we often see a rise in drunk-driving crashes and deaths on our roadways across the country,” the department said in a statement. “As a result, you'll see additional Officers on our roadways during the month of December.”
