Newton Police Log: Littering, Suspended License, Missing Flowers

Littering does draw attention

A Newton Police officer on May 29 was driving an unmarked car eastbound on Derby Street. According to reports, he was seated at a stoplight when he witnessed the driver of the car in front of him throw a cup out the window of a red 1999 Cadillac Coupe.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested Joseph Kenneth LaCamera, 50, of 89 Adams St., #7 in Waltham, charging him with operating on a suspended license. He was also cited for littering from a motor vehicle.

Don't take it out on the flowers

Newton Police responded to a vandalism call on Derby Street May 28. According to reports, the homeowner told officers he left the house at about 7 a.m. and there were flowers growing in a planter.

When he returned later that afternoon, the flowers were gone.

Pump and run

The Hess Gas Station at 2370 Commonwealth Ave. reported that the driver of a gray SUV came to the station at 8:27 a.m. on May 29. After pumping gas into the vehicle, the driver left without paying and headed west on Commonwealth Avenue, according to reports.

Vanishing bicycle.

A resident on Woodland Road reported that her silver Trek bicycle had been stolen from inside her unlocked garage at some point during the daytime in the past week. According to reports, the report of the theft came in on May 29.
