NEWTON, MA — A Newton native has created his own nonprofit platform for those negatively affected by the Los Angeles fires.

19-year-old college student Alex Donnelly established his social media campaign in January which includes various resources for the victims of the blazes. It has been shared with more than 250,000 people since its launch. The platform’s software includes functions that provide up-to-date information on things such as shelters, food banks, fire locations, news updates, emergency and recovery information, and financial assistance.

Donnelly included links to other organizations that can be donated to such as The Salvation Army, American Red Cross, and YMCA.

“The images and stories of the fires devastated me, so with no money to donate, I built this using skills I had,” Donnelly said.
