Newton Restaurant Closing After Short Tenure

The restaurant also has an adjacent catering service.

NEWTON, MA — A cafe has announced its closing date after less than a year in operation.

Lavender Cafe will officially close its doors on Sunday, Aug. 31. The Venezuelan restaurant first opened its doors in May on 15 Spencer St. in West Newton. It announced on social media that its original planned closing date of Sunday, Sept. 14 has been moved up two weeks.

As a result, the eatery’s corresponding catering business titled NaisLee Catering will also be closing.

“After exhausting all resources and possibilities and understanding that the risk of staying open was higher than the potential benefits, we had to make the hardest decision ever for us,” ownership said in a statement. “The obstacles we faced were extraordinary.”
