Newton’s COVID-19 Positivity Rate Rises To 6.65%, Cases Increase

NEWTON, MA - Newton's COVID-19 positivity rate was 6.65 percent, a 1.45 percent increase from last week, according to the latest municipal-level data released by the Department of Public Health Thursday.
This week, Newton reported a two-week case count of 239 compared to last week’s count of 224. The total positive test number reported was 283. The average daily case rate was 19.2, and there were 4,253 tests administered in the last two weeks.
The Department of Public Health on Thursday reported 9,954 new coronavirus cases in the last week, as well as 38 new deaths and 4,527 vaccine doses administered.

The latest state vaccine report showed the number of fully vaccinated residents rose to more than 5.43 million. Booster doses were given to about 3.16 million residents.
