Newton Youth Invited To Unique Civic Event
The city's first-ever Civic Spotlight is coming later this week.

NEWTON, MA — Middle and high school students are invited to City Hall Tuesday night for the first-ever Newton Civic Spotlight.
The free two-hour event begins at 4:30 p.m. and aims to teach youth about local government and other topics in a digestible way. The topics slated to be included are municipal government, the justice system, environment and climate change, mental health, substance use, and local support organizations.
The first 30 minutes of the fair will allow attendees to explore the many informational offerings. It will be followed by a brief address from Mayor Ruthanne Fuller. At 5:15 p.m., the event will split into multiple topic-based breakout rooms before the final half-hour in which the event can be freely explored once again.
