Police Secretary Files New Suit Against Newton Mayor
The suit is based on testimony by the ex-Newton Police Chief.

The Newton Police secretary who is suing the city in Federal Court for filing false charges against her is now suing Mayor Setti Warren in Middlesex Superior Court.
Jeanne Sweeney Mooney tried to add Warren to the suit against the city and ex-Police Chief Matthew Cummings, but a federal judge would not allow it.
The new suit claims that Warren was behind the decision to file criminal charges against Mooney for stealing department funds according to a report in the Boston Globe. She was acquitted by a jury in May.
The suit is based on testimony from Cummings, who was fired by Warren.
The city will respond to the new suit, and seek sanctions for filing the fees and costs from the suit, City Solicitor Donnalyn B. Lynch Kahn told the Globe.
