Pro-Israel Demonstrator Reaches Deal In September Shooting Incident: Report
Scott Hayes reportedly shot Caleb Gannon inadvertently during an altercation in Newton last year.

NEWTON, MA — Scott Hayes has reached a deal with the state regarding an incident in which he inadvertently shot another man during an altercation last fall, according to a report from 7 News Boston.
Caleb Gannon tackled the pro-Israel demonstrator during a rally in Newton in September. Hayes’s firearm went off during the altercation and Gannon was shot in the stomach.
The agreement includes a suspension of Hayes’s firearm license through September, and mandates that he stay out of Newton except for medical or religious services. He also must stay away from Gannon moving forward and being looking for employment.

Hayes’s attorney Glenn MacKinley insisted that the deal was not an admission of guilt and that Hayes did nothing wrong. Gannon’s attorney said his client is not happy with the results.
