Rep. Jake Auchincloss Calls To Disband NRA After Texas School Shooting

"The NRA has blood on its hands," Auchincloss said. "It must be disbanded."

NEWTON, MA — Rep. Jake Auchincloss, who represents Newton, Brookline, and the rest of Massachusetts’ Fourth Congressional District, has called to disband the National Rifle Association (NRA) in the wake of Tuesday's school shooting in Texas that killed at least 18 students and one teacher.

“Two things are happening in Texas right now: 18 sets of parents are preparing to bury their children and the NRA is preparing its annual convention,” Auchincloss said in a statement.

"The NRA should cancel its convention, but it won’t – it’ll run the same playbook it has since Columbine,” he continued. "Will any politician who is planning to address the convention speak the plain truth to their craven power? The NRA has blood on its hands. It must be disbanded.”
