UPDATE: Minor Injuries, Minimal Property Damage in Mass Pike Crash

The scene has been cleared of the crash that involved seven-vehicles and a jackknifed tractor-trailer.

Update (11 a.m.) The Massachusetts State Police said the crash that closed I-90 in Newton appears to have caused only minor injuries.

According to a press release from the MSP, the Weston state police barracks began receiving calls about the crash at 9:10 a.m. There appears to be little property damage in addition to only minor injuries.

The Pike is fully open at this time.

Update (10:27 a.m.) The crash in the westbound lanes of the Mass Pike has been cleared.

Traffic is moving once again, according to the MassDOT Twitter feed. Residual delays remain.

Other Twitter reports now indicate that an accident near Exit 16 eastbound on the Pike is causing some delays.

Update: Various Twitter reports indicate the westbound lanes have reopened, but Google maps continues to show stopped traffic.

NEFireBuff reports there is a fuel spill and injuries involved in the crash. Emergency response is accessing the site via the eastbound side of the Pike.

Additionally, reports are indicating that seven cars and one tractor-trailer were involved.

Original: The westbound lanes of the Massachusetts Turnpike are at a standstill, according to Patch reporter Charlie Breitrose.

The Massachusetts State Police tweeted that a seven-vehicle crash at mile marker 125 has traffic backed up through Newton and beyond. The crash involves a jackknifed tractor trailer.

Other reports indicate that a car-carrier jackknifed near Exit 14 in Weston and an ambulance has been requested to enter going the the wrong way on the Pike at Exit 16 in Newton.

Google Maps shows westbound traffic on the Pike is fully stopped from Exit 14 east.
