Teacher Running In Boston Marathon For Newton Schools Foundation
Jasmine Lellock committed to running in 2020, but due to the pandemic, she will be running in-person for the first time this year.
NEWTON, MA — Newton South English teacher Jasmine Lellock is running in the 125th Boston Marathon to raise money for the Newton Schools Foundation.
Lellock committed to running the 2020 Boston Marathon, but due to the pandemic, this is the first year she will be running in-person.
"After finally qualifying for the marathon--a lifelong goal--and fundraising for NSF, I lost the opportunity to run the in-person race last year," said Lellock on her GoFundMe page. "I was able to run the virtual race in 2020 with my running partner, and now this fall, I will be able to finally run the in-person for the first time. I hope you will help me reach my goal of $5000 to support a cause near and dear to my heart."

The Newton School Foundation assists local schools by funding promising initiatives, professional development, and programs that close gaps in achievement and opportunity, and Lellock and other teachers benefit directly from grants offered by the foundation.
"My colleagues and I learned from summer professional development on anti-racism, and my Shakespeare students had the chance to meet a famous actor and playwright," said Lellock. "Several of my students received funding from NSF to travel with me to Argentina as part of a learn abroad program. I'm grateful to Newton Schools Foundation for their efforts!"
