Unlicensed Newton Driver Strikes MBTA Bus, Flees: Transit Police

MBTA Transit Police said the man was charged after police located him following the crash on Mount Auburn Street on Monday morning.

NEWTON, MA — A Newton man is facing charges after MBTA Transit Police said he rear-ended a bus on Mount Auburn Street while driving without a license and fled the scene on Monday morning.

Police said the 36-year-old man struck the bus, abandoned the SUV and ran away from the scene.

One person was injured in the crash.

Police said the driver was located by police and arrested. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, operating a stolen vehicle, and driving with a suspended license.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
