Veterans Service Center Will Hold First Drop-In Hours Tuesday

The newly opened Newton Veterans Center will open its doors for three hours Tuesday evening to offer a variety of resources to any veteran.

Newton celebrated the grand opening of its new Veterans Service Center at American Legion Post 440 on May 7. On Tuesday, it will hold the first of its monthly drop-in hours.

The regional center's goal is to provide veterans of all generations and branches of service a "one-stop location" for information on education, job opportunities, housing, childcare, taxes, finances and health advice, according to an earlier press release issued by the mayor's office.

As part of that effort, the center will hold monthly drop-in hours on the first Tuesday of the month. During that time, veterans can come to the center and access a variety of resources as well as socialize with other veterans.

In addition, the June 4 drop-in hours will also feature food provided by Max and Leo’s restaurant and dessert courtesy of Newton resident Margot Lestrange, according to a press release from the mayor's office. Home Depot representatives will also be on hand to discuss the company's veterans programs and sports commentator and author Michael Holly.

The center will be open Tuesday, June 4 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m.
