Your Guide: Walk Among 400 Years of Chestnut Hill History

Take a look at what Historic Newton has in store this Sunday.

Historic Newton Walks is at it again, this time with a stroll through 400 years of history on Chestnut Hill.

From its founding as a rural community in 1655, Chestnut Hill has moved through four centuries of history and development, including the introduction of the railway in the 1850s and the transition from a primarily farming community to the bustling commercial and suburban center it is today.

Local resident Amy Grier will lead a free walk through Chestnut Hill, discussing its history along the way. The walk will convene at the Chestnut Hill School (428 Hammond St.) at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25.
