Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze in about 20 minutes, relying on trucked-in water because there are no hydrants in that area. Investigators from Plymouth Fire and the state are still determining what caused the incident, while the Red Cross helps the displaced residents.

2. New protocols in place after aunt says nephew wandered off school property in Plymouth (boston25news.com) — Plymouth school officials have implemented new safety procedures after a kindergarten student reportedly left school grounds unsupervised, including changes to staff placement, supervision, and attendance communication with the YMCA program. Families who say similar incidents happened earlier are pressing for transparency, while Boston 25 has requested records and is seeking more details from the district.

3. Career milestones, career highlights earn First Line of the Week picks (capecodtimes.com) — Local hockey fans will notice Plymouth North/South featured in this week’s Cape and Islands First Line honors, as a Blue Knights standout logged a goal and three assists in a 6-0 win over the Plymouth co-op. The roundup highlights several boys and girls players who delivered big performances against regional rivals, including Barnstable-area and Vineyard teams, in games through January 10.

4. Barbara N. Fleming, 98 (duxburyclipper.com) — Plymouth readers are noted among the surviving family of Barbara N. Fleming, a beloved mother, adventurer, and longtime South Shore resident who passed away at 98. Her life spanned flight hosting, global travel, and decades of welcoming friends and neighborhood kids into her Massachusetts homes. A spring celebration of life is planned, with donations suggested to Standish Humane.

5. January 2026 Judicial Assignments (masslawyersweekly.com) — Plymouth cases in January will be handled under Region I of the Massachusetts trial court system, alongside nearby South Shore and Cape communities.
