Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch Re-Elected
Thomas Koch was re-elected mayor after being challenged by Brenda A. Ryan for the mayoral seat.
QUINCY, MA — Mayor Thomas Koch won re-election Tuesday after running against Brenda Ryan. Koch got 9,377 votes on Tuesday, while Ryan got 3,902 votes, according to unofficial results released Tuesday night.
Koch got just more than 69 percent of the vote, while Ryan got almost 29 percent of the vote, according to Tuesday night's results released by the city clerk's office.
Before being re-elected, Koch told voters that he would like to focus on addressing Quincy's aging infrastructure. He also highlighted the city's ability to create new schools in the past several years without overriding the tax rate limit.

In addressing public safety, Koch said the city is in the process of hiring 16 new police officers, and new firefighters will soon be added thanks to a grant.
Ryan told voters before the election that she was disappointed in Quincy losing its emergency-room hospital. She also told voters that she is against the gas compressor station being planned in the area.
