With Flu Coming, Shrewsbury Planning First Vaccine Clinic Of Fall

The October flu shot clinic in Shrewsbury comes at the outset of the 2023-24 season.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury will hold the town's first flu shot clinic of the 2023-24 flu season in mid-October.

The Oct. 16 clinic will take place at the senior center, 98 Maple Ave, and will offer the standard dose of the vaccine designed for the flu variants thought to be most likely to circulate this winter.

Flu season typically begins in October when cases start to rise and continues through early spring. Flu in Massachusetts was "minimal" as of the week ending Sept. 16, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But flu activity was on the rise in nearby states, including Connecticut, the CDC reported.
