Person Tied Dog To Bench At Shrewsbury Plaza, Left In Taxi: Police

Shrewsbury police are looking for information about the owners of the German shepherd-type dog.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury police are trying to find the owner of a dog who was found abandoned at a shopping plaza on Sunday.

According to police, the German shepherd-type dog was found tied up at the Christmas Tree Shops shopping plaza along Route 9 near the Route 20 interchange at about 10 a.m. Sunday.

"He was tied by his leash to a bench and his owner was reportedly seen leaving the area in a taxi cab," police said.

The dog was taken to the Worcester Animal Rescue League shelter in Worcester for safekeeping.

The dog is neutered and was wearing a black collar, but did not have any other identifying information, like a microchip.
