Police Log: Homeless Man Arrested for Larceny

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Dec. 3

8:05 a.m.: A 9-year-old boy was injured playing a game of tag. Medics transported him to UMass Medical Center.

9:40 a.m.: Four men in construction uniforms were reported outside a house on Old Mill Road. The men were researches looking for the Asian longhorn beetle.

2:02 p.m.: An officer took a report of a stolen ladder from Oak Street.

2:03 p.m.: A caller from Edgewood Drive reported a suspicious male on her roof. Officers responded and discovered that the man was a contractor cleaning the gutters.

2:51 p.m.: A caller reported chickens in the road near Walnut Street on Boston Turnpike. When an officer responded the chickens were back in the yard.

3:41 p.m.: A caller from Flagg Road reported a break-in.

3:50 p.m.: A caller reported a sedan on Oak Street with the driver slumped over on the steering wheel. An officer responded and spoke to the operator who was picking something up off the floor.

4:08 p.m.: Two vehicles were involved in a crash on Boston Turnpike. Both vehicles were towed but no injuries were reported.

5:30 p.m.: A caller reported a suspicious teen running through the woods on Cherry Street.

6:39 p.m.: A caller reported a very loud vibrating sound coming from the apartment below her on South Quinsigamond. Officers responded and said that it might have been the heater.

Tuesday, Dec. 4

2:03 a.m.: An officer arrested a Joseph Liberty, 58, at the intersection of Route 9 and Industrial Drive. The homeless man had a warrant out for his arrest with charges of larceny over $250 and uttering a bad check.
