No Sibling Rivalry: $1M MA Lotto Win Split Between Brothers
The brothers had a pact dating back 30 years that they would split any big lottery prize. It finally happened.

SHREWSBURY, MA — A Shrewsbury man who recently won a $1 million scratch ticket prize will give half of it away because of a pact that dates back decades.
Jeffrey Shigley recently won $1 million on a "Diamonds and Dollars" $5 instant ticket game, and he accepted the prize in late September jointly with his sister-in-law. Shigley's brother, Charles, died in 2019, but Jeffrey Shigley wanted to honor a 30-year pact the brothers had to split any large lottery prize between them.

Shigley opted to accept the prize as a $650,000 pre-tax lump sump. He bought the winning ticket at Star Liquors, 507 Boston Turnpike, after asking the clerk to pick a ticket randomly for him. The store will get a $10,000 bonus for selling it.
