Public Employee Allegedly Assaulted; 2 Arrested

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, April 4

8:30 a.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle for an expired registration on Route 9 at South Street. The vehicle was towed and police are seeking a criminal application for the driver who was operating with a suspended license.

9:29 a.m.: An officer from the Shrewsbury Police Department conducted traffic enforcement on Grafton Street.

3:36 p.m.: An officer conducted traffic enforcement on Boston Turnpike at Maple Avenue.

4:54 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on Hartford Turnpike at Purinton Street and issued a civil citation to the driver for violating a town bylaw.

5:01 p.m.: Officers responded to a four-car crash on Hartford Turnpike at Purinton Street. One vehicle was towed and police cited one driver.

5:25 p.m.: An officer arrested Paul Harvey, 36, of 11 Power Ave. while serving him an arrest warrant for assault and battery on a public employee and disturbing the peace.

6:59 p.m.: A security guard at Bed Bath and Beyond requested police assistance with a shoplifter. The violator was not arrested but police have issued a criminal application.

9:07 p.m.: While conducting an investigation on Glendale Avenue, officers arrested Yohane Oppong, 21, of 17 Glendale Ave. on warrant charges of assault on a public employee, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

10:50 p.m.: A caller from Grafton Street reported an attempted break-in.

11:49 p.m.: Officers notified a resident of Centennial Drive that his cattle were in the street.

Friday, April 5

2:39 a.m.: An officer issued a criminal application to a driver after a traffic stop on Hartford Turnpike at Lake Street.
