Two Officers Allegedly Assaulted While Arresting Intoxicated Male

The incident occurred Sunday night.

Sunday night officers from the Shrewsbury Police Department received a 911 call requesting a check of an intoxicated male at the Rainbow Motel .

Upon arrival at the motel, officers encountered Steven Baldwin, the intoxicated man in question. During a conversation with the officers, Baldwin became violent and disorderly.

"While attempting to place Mr. Baldwin into custody he punched Officer Paul Alward and kicked Officer John Macleod," Sergeant Alfred Pratt said in an email. "The Officers were not injured as a result of the arrest."

Baldwin, 29, of 334 River Rd., Hudson was held at the station overnight on charges of disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer. He was arraigned Monday morning at Westborough District Court.
