Award-Winning Somerville Restaurant Shutting Down
Ten years after it made OpenTable's top 50 restaurants in the country, Bergamot will close and turn into a gastropub.
SOMERVILLE, MA — A restaurant that scooped up both regional and national praise in its 10 years near Inman Square is shutting down. Bergamot owner Servio Garcia told The Boston Globehe's closing his restaurant, calling the coronavirus pandemic "the nail that sealed the coffin."
There is good news: the Bergamot team will open a gastropub in the same space. It will be called B2 and serve pub fare and beer from local brewery Fermentation Arts Brasserie, the Globe reported.
Bergamot was named to OpenTable's list of the 50 best restaurants in the country when it opened in 2010. The Beacon Street eatery, known for its New American food, could not sustain being solely a takeout/delivery business, Garcia told the Globe.
