SOMERVILLE, MA — Another City Council candidate has emerged and received one significant endorsement, according to a report from Cambridge Day.

Resident Emily Hardt recently announced her campaign for the Ward 7 seat ahead of the 2025 city election. She has been endorsed by incumbent Judy Pineda Neufeld, who is not running for reelection
Hardt is a Texas native who currently works as a lecturer of gender, leadership, and public policy at University of Massachusetts Boston. Her work experience also includes seven years as Director of Women’s Institute of Leadership Development program until 2012.

If elected, Hardt said the development of affordable housing would be a top priority. She is slated to be running against Wilbert Pineda, who recently decided to run for the Ward 7 spot as opposed to joining the crowded race for councilor at large.
