Lyft Driver Charged With Rape In Somerville
The driver has been accused of raping a femae passenger.
SOMERVILLE, MA — A local Lyft driver is facing multiple charges after reportedly assaulting a female passenger this past weekend, according to Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan.
Luis Carlos Ramos Teixeira, 27, has officially been charged with has been rape and indecent assault and battery on a person over fourteen. Somerville police responded to a report from an adult woman that she had been assaulted in Teixeira’s vehicle outside her Somerville home on Saturday, Aug. 9. Teixeira was identified and apprehended in his native Brockton the next day.
Teixeira was arraigned in district court on Tuesday and is now being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled later this week.
