• Somerville Launching Mattress Disposal Program In The New Year (patch.com) — Somerville is rolling out a new mattress and box spring recycling program on February 1 that will change how residents schedule and pay for bulk pickups. Households with six or fewer units and city trash collection will need $55 stickers per mattress, available at City Hall, DPW, or online, with pickups booked through 311.
   

• Medford firefighter arrested in federal child exploitation sting (boston.com) — A Medford firefighter has been charged with sending explicit images to an undercover officer posing as a minor, and he entered a not-guilty plea in Somerville District Court. Prosecutors say the case stems from a broader federal child exploitation investigation, and the 63-year-old was released on bail with strict limits on contact with minors and internet use while the probe continues.
