Robbery, Carjacking Suspect Who Fled Into Somerville Arrested

SOMERVILLE, MA — The suspect in a robbery of a Cambridge nail salon who carjacked a woman at gunpoint and fled into Somerville has been arrested, police said.

Dennis Kelley, 43, of Cambridge, was arrested Tuesday on warrants charging him with armed robbery and armed carjacking.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, an employee of a Cambridge Street nail salon told police a man showed a gun and demanded money. Police said the suspect, later identified as Kelley, fled on foot with cash and a cell phone to a McDonald's on McGrath Highway in Somerville.

A Medford woman then called police to report an armed carjacking in the parking lot. Kelley fled in her Toyota RAV4, which was found abandoned in Somerville near the railroad tracks off McGrath Highway, police said.

Kelley again fled on foot and was not found during an initial search of the area, police said.

He is expected to be arraigned in Cambridge District Court on Tuesday.
