Somerville Restaurant Closes After Six Decades in Business

Condos may go in Somerville site outside Union Square.

SOMERVILLE, MA - The Hacienda is no more. The popular restaurant at 46 Medford St. has been in business since 1939 but will not re-open after this week's vacation after the Dicecca brothers, Louis and Frank, said they received an offer to buy the property too good to turn down, according to Boston Eater.

John DiCecca first opened the restaurant in 1939 under a different name, and his sons Frank and Louis continued to run the restaurant over the years, serving up Italian-American cuisine, Eater reported. Louis DiCecca told Boston.com he anticipated condos going into the space.
