Somerville Restaurant Given Curfew After Late-night Disturbances: Report
The Brazilian restaurant was previously staying open until 2 a.m.
SOMERVILLE, MA — The town’s Licensing Commission voted to reduce the hours of operation to a restaurant after numerous noise complaints and other incidents in which the police had to get involved, according to a report from Boston.com.
Gauchao Brazilian Cuisine on 102 Broadway can now only stay open until 1 a.m. as opposed to 2 a.m. The Commission made the ruling after Somerville Police Lieutenant Diogo de Oliveira said that the department has responded to 62 calls at the restaurant so far this year, with nearly 50 of them being late at night or in the early morning hours. Some of the more serious incidents include fights and shots being fired. The commission could potentially revoke the establishment’s entertainment license and further reduce its hours if the issues persist.
