Local residents are invited to join then Somerville Historic Preservation Commission in October for two events celebrating Somerville’s historic Milk Row Cemetery.

On Sunday, Oct. 18 from 1p.m. to 3 p.m., visit the Cemetery for the Ghosts of Milk Row Cemetery Tour and hear from volunteers dressed up as “ghosts” of Somerville residents buried at the historic site. For attendees ages 12 and older, there is a suggested donation of $5. The tour will coincide with the City’s SomerStreets event along Somerville Ave.

As part of the Cemetery’s Docent Program, the site will also be open to the public on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. Volunteers dressed in historic period clothing will help visitors learn about the Cemetery and the resident buried there, as well as the area’s history.

Due to its fragile condition, the site is typically closed to the public.
