Man With Pistol Robs Highland Avenue Convenience Store
Police released surveillance video of a man who robbed the QuickStop Somerville convenience store on Jan. 27. The man held the store's clerk up at gunpoint while he took about $1,000 in cash. On Wednesday, police arrested 31-year-old Jonathan Williams of Revere in connection to the Somerville robbery and three other armed robberies in Medford.

Julia Stiles Film Shot in Somerville to Re-Air in February
"The Makeover," a Hallmark Hall of Fame film starring Julia Stiles that brought film crews to Somerville's Hudson Street in September, debuted on the ABC television network on Jan. 27. It will also air on Feb. 2, 8 and 10 on the Hallmark Channel.

The Somerville Police Department released a photo of a suspect who allegedly robbed the Citizens Bank in Winter Hill Monday morning.

Curtatone: 'I Haven't Considered Running for Anything Other Than Mayor'
With John Kerry giving up his Senate seat to become secretary of state, and with no presumptive frontrunner on the scene to succeed Gov. Deval Patrick, political watchers have speculated about the political aspirations of Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone. Curtatone said this week he's focused on running again for mayor this year.

The city and the Somerville Municipal Employees Association held a contract-signing ceremony this week after reaching an agreement on a new six-year contract.

Planners Make Changes to Beacon Street Reconstruction Design
The debate over reconstruction plans for Beacon Street continued this week at a public meeting held Monday. Planners have made some design changes that would recapture some parking spots lost in a previous design. Theodore 'Ted' Buttner, 87, died on Jan. 27 after getting hit by a car in Peabody. Buttner was a lifelong Somerville resident and parishioner at Saint Joseph Church in Union Square. 

Somerville Saw Robust Home Sales in 2012
Figures released this week by The Warren Group, which follows real estate trends, showed that 2012 was a strong year for home sales in Somerville, both in terms of sales volume and home prices.
