4 Finalists Named For Sudbury Schools Superintendent Position

After more than 30 applications came in, the search committee has whittled it down to four finalists to replace the retiring Anne Wilson.

SUDBURY, MA—The Sudbury School Committee had hoped to have a new superintendent named for the K-8 Sudbury Public Schools by late March, and it looks like the process is on track for just that.

A screening committee interviewed candidates during the week of the Feb. 5, and applications were due by Jan. 17 to replace the retiring Anne Wilson, who leaves in June of 2018.

The committee held a special meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 14, to name the recommendations for finalists.

The Screening Committee met for five meetings between Jan. 11 to Feb. 9. The district had 35 applications for this position and the 11-member Screening Committee reviewed all resumes and selected eight applicants to interview.

According to School Committee Chairman Christine Hogan, "after a careful discussion and deliberation," they arrived at a consensus decision the following four finalists for the position of superintendent of schools:

Glenn Brand

Dr. Brand has been a classroom teacher, grades 3-8, (1994-2001) and a high school assistant principal (2001 -2002) in Ontario, Canada, a middle school assistant principal in the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District (2002-2004), the Wareham Middle School Principal (2004-2006), the Pollard Middle School Principal in Needham (2006-2011), the Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Finance for the Sharon Public Schools (2011-2014), and the Superintendent of Schools for the Acton-Boxborough Regional School District (2014-2017).

Brand earned Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Education degree from the University of Toronto, and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Bath (U.K.) School of Education.

Brad Crozier

Crozier has been a classroom teacher, grades K-5, (1994-1995) in Milford, CT, a grade 6 science teacher in Gravette AR (1996-1998), a K-5 Assistant Principal in Gentry AR (1998-2000), the Principal of the Gentry AR Intermediate School (2000-2001), the Principal of the K-5 Happy Hollow School in Wayland MA (2001-2007), and the Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Wayland from 2007 to the present.

Crozier earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Graceland University in Lamoni IA, a Master of Science in Elementary Education degree from the University of Bridgeport, graduate studies in school administration at the University of Arkansas, and advanced graduate studies in education administration and policy at Boston College.

James Jolicoeur

Mr. Jolicoeur had extensive experience in higher education (Quinsigamond Community College) and in the business world and management consulting prior to beginning his work in the Sutton Public Schools as the Business Manager and then Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Finance and Operations (1998-2005). Since then Jolicoeur has been the Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the Marlborough Public Schools (2005-2011) and the Superintendent of Schools for the Leominster Public Schools (2011–2017).

Jolicoeur earned an Associate’s degree from Worcester Junior College/Worcester Industrial Technical Institute, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Clark University, a Master in Business Administration degree from Nichols College, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Northeastern University.

Alexandra Montes McNeil

Dr. McNeil has been a grades 6-12 classroom teacher in mathematics and science in the Boston Public Schools (1992-2003), the Science Program Director (2003-2007) and Assistant Headmaster at Boston Latin School (2007-2009), Principal of the K-8 Mario Umana Academy (2009-2015), and an Instructional Superintendent and Member of the Superintendent’s Leadership Team in the Boston Public Schools (2015 to the present).

McNeil earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master in Education degree, with a Concentration in Secondary Science, from Boston College, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Cambridge College, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Boston College.
