Connelly's Decision to Leave Lincoln-Sudbury a 'Personal One'

The finance director for the regional high school is taking a similar post closer to his home.

The Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Committee may have a busier summer break than it is used to.

the Committee also found out its finance director was also heading out.

Michael Connelly, who joined L-S last year, will be the North Reading School District's new director of finance and operations, according to North Reading School Committee Chairman Mel Webster.

L-S School Committee Chair Nancy Marshall said Connelly's departure is a loss for the community.

"Michael Connelly's contribution to the District in his short tenure has been substantial," she said in an email. "I speak for the whole Committee, faculty and staff in expressing our sadness in his departure, but also in thanking him and wishing him well."

Marshall said Connelly's decision was based more for personal reasons.

"His new work will be a three minute drive from his home and his very young family," she said.

The finance director position has been posted and applications were being reviewed last week. Interviews will be conducted in the next two weeks with the hope L-S can make an appointment by the beginning of June.

"Mike has been very thoughtful with the Committee and Administration as he weighed the pros and cons of this change," Marshall said. "He fully intends to ensure a transition that supports LSRHS and all he has accomplished over the past year."
