D.A.R.E. Graduations in Sudbury Begin Wednesday

The town's four elementary schools will honor local students.

Sudbury Police Officer Rocky Conrado has announced Sudbury's four elementary schools will hold graduations for its D.A.R.E. students beginning Wednesday.

D.A.R.E., a substance abuse prevention program, was founded in 1983 in Los Angeles and has proven so successful that it is now being implemented in 75 percent of the nation's school districts and in more than 43 countries around the world.

The following is a schedule of D.A.R.E graduations slated in Sudbury:

  • Wednesday, May 8: Loring Elementary School, 8:15 a.m.
  • Friday, May 10: Nixon Elementary School, 9:15 a.m.
  • Wednesday, May 22: Noyes Elementary School, 9:15 a.m.
  • Thursday, May 23, Haynes Elementary School, 9:15 a.m.

Among the guest speakers expected to be in attendance are:

  • Former Boston Celtics forward Walter McCarty;
  • NFL.com reporter and Sudbury native Bert Breer;
  • Sudbury resident and Boston sports personality Tony Massarotti;
  • and Sudbury resident and Boston sports personality Gary Tanguay.
