Fifteen Sudbury Students Selected as Scholarship Winners
Sponsored by Sudbury Foundation, the Atkinson Scholarship Program was created in 1996.
A group of Sudbury students were recently recognized for their academic achievements as they were awarded college scholarships.
The Sudbury Foundation handed out Atkinson Scholarship awards to 15 students last week as a part of the program that has been in place since 1996.
Molly Bankuti, Jonathan Carbutt, Liam Carbutt, Patricia Cordischi, Isaac Feldberg, Anthony Foscolos, Sydney Generoso, Kevin Gorman, Nathaniel Johnson, Giuseppe Leonelli, Emily Liang, Rosemary Rust, Ana Silva, Suzanne Weisberg, and Ryan Young were chosen as this year's award winners.
Of that group, 14 of the students will graduate from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School this year, which Nathaniel Johnson will graduate from The Rivers School.
Each scholarship winner receives $5,000 and will have the opportunity to re-apply for assistance each year they are in college.
The students were selected because they exemplify the qualities valued by former Sudbury residents Herbert and Esther Atkinson, who established the Foundation in 1952.
“We are delighted to welcome these bright, talented students into the Atkinson program and are pleased to entrust them with the legacy of generosity and community service left by Mr. and Mrs. Atkinson,” Executive Director Marilyn Martino said.
