L-S Finance Director Accepts Position for North Reading School District

Michael Connelly will be the school district's new director of finance and operations, according to School Committee Chairman Mel Webster. Carl Nelson, who currently holds the position, will retire on June 30.

Three finalists, selected from 35 candidates, were interviewed by the search committee last week. They voted unanimously to hire Connelly, Webster said.

Connelly has accepted the position and is in the contract negotiation stage of the hiring process. He is currently the director of finance and operations for the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School District and is a Reading resident, Webster said. 

According to Superintendent Kathleen Willis, Connelly graduated from Babson College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and will graduate again this spring from Cambridge College with a Master of Education in School Administration. 

"It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Connelly as the next Director of Finance and Operations for the North Reading Public Schools," Willis said.

She went on to thank the members of the search committee who helped throughout the hiring process: Cliff Bowers, Bob Mauceri, Abby Hurlbut, Liz Pavao, Patrick Daly, Sean Killeen, Wayne Hardacker, Sabita Pai, and Anne Lundell.
