This is an important time for Sudbury Public Schools. As we examine our priorities, we continue to need School Committee members who are equipped to address the immediate circumstances in which we find ourselves and who have the tenacity and experience to tackle the longer range issue of strategic planning for our schools' successful future. It is vital that we choose people who are experienced and knowledgeable and ready move Sudbury schools forward.

Silvia’s drive for transparency and knowledge dissemination is evident throughout her civic participation in Sudbury town affairs. She is in constant attendance and consistently sharing results of town meetings and decisions from town boards. What is most impressive about Silvia’s approach to town affairs is her open-mindedness on all sides of the issue along with her ability to find common ground and compromise. She has shown herself to be a thoughtful and thorough researcher who works collaboratively with others.

Silvia and her husband Shawn have two children, one at Noyes and one at the high school. Her extensive background in finance will provide a business-minded eye to our schools’ finance and budgeting practices. Silvia also previously served on a school board for eight years. During that time, she served in a variety of roles including the school’s finance committee, school board, and as board chair. She was engaged in short and long-term planning, helped build a sustainable budget model, and worked collaboratively with more than 20 other members, all while ensuring that the school’s students and core values were at the heart of every decision.
