Lincoln-Sudbury Outlasts Winthrop, Advances to Semifinal

There were plenty of big hits, and Lincoln-Sudbury made just enough big plays as the Warriors ousted Winthrop and advanced to North Division 2 semifinal round with a quarterfinal win on Friday night.

Junior goalie Derek Ashe was the star of the night, making several critical saves with Lincoln-Sudbury clinging to a late lead.

Thanks to the victory, the Warriors will take on No. 1 seed Beverly in the North Division 2 semifinal. That game is slated for 8 p.m. on Monday night at Chelmsford Forum.

The winner of that contest will advance to bracket final against Marblehead or Tewksbury, in a game scheduled for March 10 at 6 p.m. in Lowell's Tsongas Arena.
