Police, Educators, Hold School Safety Forum For Sudbury

"Understandably the safety of everyone is a paramount concern, particularly that of our children and school staff."

SUDBURY, MA—Since the school shooting in Florida last week, as with many police departments and school authorities, Sudbury Chief Scott Nix said he has heard from numerous residents wanting to "start a conversation."

In response, a meeting has been set up that is open to the public as "an attempt to calm the emotions so everyone can work to determine the best next steps."

Local residents are welcome to this brainstorming meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. at the Sudbury Police Station to ask questions, voice concerns and give suggestions related to school and town safety.

"Understandably the safety of everyone is a paramount concern, particularly that of our children and school staff," Nix said in a letter addressed to the Sudbury public schools. "The tragic and unfortunate events that keep occurring are a harsh reminder of those concerns. In addressing the many inquiries, I have been asked to meet with residents where they can share their thoughts, as well as questions could be answered. "
