SUDBURY, MA — Welcome to a warm and dry Aug. 6. Towns across the MetroWest and Worcester are finishing up the cleanup efforts left from Tuesday's Tropical Storm Isaias, with power restoration efforts still in full swing. Will most of the hardest hit outage areas in the state are west of Worcester, over 3,000 people in the Commonwealth were still without power on Thursday, including some in the MetroWest.
Several towns in the area have seen an increase in positive COVID-19 cases, including a double-digit rise in Milford and Shrewsbury. Cities like Framingham and Worcester, where cases have been steadily increasing over the summer, are expanding testing. Framingham is introducing free testing while Worcester is opening two free test sites.
Some good news out of Sudbury — the Samaritan who sprang into action to help a worker on the side of the road who was bleeding from a laceration on his hand was tracked down and praised by police. On Monday, a worker on Hudson Road was losing a lot of blood before the Samaritan hopped out of his car to help make a tourniquet around the injured man's wound. Police praised the Samaritan for very likely saving the man's life.
