Assisted Living Center In Shrewsbury Involved In Wrongful Death Suit
The estate of a woman who resided at an assisted living center filed a lawsuit against the residence alleging wrongful death.

SHREWSBURY, MA - A woman's estate filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Residence at Orchard Grove, according to court documents obtained by Patch.
The suit, filed by the estate of Nancy McNamara, alleges the Residence at Orchard Grove, operated by LCB Senior Living Operating, LLC, was in part responsible for a woman's death in 2022.
McNamara had been a resident at Orchard Grove since 2019. She was 85 years old when she was admitted, and her service plan required escorts three times a day to and from meals, two times an day per housekeeping and a sponge bath every day.

On Saturday, Dec. 4 2021, McNamara was found unresponsive on the floor of her unit by staff members. Notes kept by the workers stated she had not been seen in two days (18-and-a-half hours), despite documentation on her chart showing she had been checked on three times per day.
McNamara was transported to the hospital with deep tissue pressure injuries to many locations on her body, including her chin, cheek, head, fingers, wrist and more.

On Jan. 6, 2022 she died in part because of her injuries and, according to her death certificate, from "complications of blunt force injuries."
McNamara's estate filed the suit to hold LCB accountable "for its failure to follow and obey its own mission statement, its misrepresentations, fake entries in the record and its failures to do what they promised to do for Ms. McNamara." The suit also seeks punitive damages.
This information has been gathered from the civil complaint filed by the plaintiff in court. The allegations have not yet been adjudicated in court. This story will be updated as the suit progresses.
