The next in our series of small business profiles in anticipation of Small Business Saturday.

SUDBURY, MA—Nancy Salvin and her husband have been in business together for 30 years, moving to Sudbury five years ago with their business Sudbury Rug and Home.
"Now we carry many more wall to wall samples and samples for stair runners and custom fabrications," said owner Nancy Salvin. "We also have a big area rug cleaning business. We still do some Oriental rugs but it's not the majority of our business anymore."
Sudbury Rug and Home is located at 15 Union Ave.

I work here much more now that my kids are grown. I really enjoy interacting with the customers and helping them find the perfect rug for their home. Now that we don't have piles and piles of Oriental rugs the business is much more manageable for 1 person. My husband also started Junk Removal Inc and Lifetime Moving Co. It has been lots of fun combining both businesses and helping customers get all their home needs met!

When did you open/launch? My husband and I started Sudbury Rug 30 years ago. We used to specialize in handmade Oriental rugs. Five years ago we moved to a new location in Sudbury. We changed our focus to area rug cleaning, area rugs, custom fabrications, installation of wall to wall carpet and stair runners.
What made you decide to open this type of business? And why this location? It was a family business. We chose Sudbury because it was experiencing huge growth and still is.
What do you like best about it? I love rugs and love helping a customer find something they love.
Biggest struggle? Before we moved to the new store it was very difficult to maintain the overheard of all those Oriental rugs.
What do you see for the future? I feel very positive about our store because of the great customer service we give to each and every customer that walks through door that you can't find on the internet.
Politics and small business: how does government affect your business? It hasn't affected us.
Name another local business you'd send customers to: We are right next to Sudbury Coffee Works. We love sending people over there to grab lunch or a snack while they're shopping for rugs.
