Sudbury Gets Financial Reporting Award

The town was given an award for excellence in financial reporting.

SUDBURY, MA—In July, Sudbury received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and reporting, and its attainment is a significant accomplishment for a municipality, said the announcement from the town.

“I’m honored that the Town received this designation again this year,” said Melissa Rodrigues, town manager, in a statement. “Our finance team is top notch and deserves our recognition and praise for the incredible work they do all year long. We are proud to offer our financial information to the town in an easy to understand way.”

The winning organizations were judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate users to read the CAFR.

“I’m excited that Sudbury was recognized for its commitment to transparency and to sound and prudent financial reporting,” said Finance Director Dennis Keohane in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to offer the residents of Sudbury this service.”
