SUDBURY, MA—There are two confirmed cases of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, at Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School, according to an announcement shared from the school nurse to the school community.

Pertussis is a disease caused by bacteria that spreads from person to person with close contact (the germ is present in respiratory secretions), said the announcement. The contagious period was from late Aug. 29 through Oct. 16.
